H2020 ROBUST-6G Kick-off meeting

This collaborative effort brings together 13 partners from academia, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations, all united in their commitment to forging a future of secure 6G connectivity.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, from participants and partners to collaborators, for their invaluable contributions to the successful start of this journey. Together, we are set to redefine the standards of secure and trustworthy 6G networks.

A special note of gratitude goes to Isil Yalcin, President of Ericsson Türkiye, for her inspiring opening address, and to Oana Radu, SNS-JU Program Officer, for her enlightening presentation on the SNS-JU vision and operational insights.

🌐 Project Focus:

ROBUST-6G is dedicated to mitigating 6G cybersecurity risks through innovative security management strategies for services, infrastructure, and the physical layer. Our goal is to devise and implement a comprehensive, automated end-to-end smart network and service security management framework. This will be achieved by leveraging Zero-touch network and Service Management (ZSM) along with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) methodologies.

💡 Project Objectives:

Thorough analysis and characterization of the anticipated 6G threat landscape.

Development of a holistic, high-security architecture empowered by AI.

Provision of sustainable, efficient, and privacy-centric AI-driven security solutions.

Implementation of zero-touch security management for dynamic scenarios.

Advancement of AI/ML-powered techniques for physical layer security.

Real-world demonstration and validation of innovative concepts through PoC showcases.

🚀 UCD’s Role and Vision:

In the short term, University College Dublin (UCD) is poised to make notable contributions to scientific and technical discourse through publications in prestigious journals and presentations at major conferences. UCD is also set to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) focused on Explainable AI security, reaching technology readiness levels (TRL) 2 to 4. Leveraging its extensive research expertise, UCD will integrate insights from ROBUST-6G into its project portfolio and educational offerings, collaborating closely with the SFI Insight Centre, the Centre for Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Investigation, and the SFI Connect Centre.

In the medium to long term, UCD’s emphasis on AI Security, XAI Security, and 6G Security will enhance its grasp of these critical areas. This enriched understanding will facilitate deeper engagement with local industries and the expansion of its range of onsite and online graduate courses in the network security and networking realms, accessible to professionals and students across Europe. Moreover, this project will enable UCD to craft specialized 6G Security training modules for technology partners and broaden the scientific community focused on 6G Security, Privacy, and AI Security. UCD is also committed to spearheading follow-up research projects and initiatives on both national and international stages. Additionally, the outcomes of this project will support UCD’s efforts in contributing to the standardization of 6G Security and Privacy topics through platforms such as ETSI and ENISA.
